The Coptic Church is almost the most import Church in the whole world in fasting.
Fasting is the oldest Commandment given to humans by The Lord.
The Lord commanded Adam not to eat from one particular tree.
This Commandment leads us gradually to the three persons, on the Mountain of Transfiguration, who have each fasted for 40 days and 40 nights.
Moses the prophet, fasted until he got the two tablets of the Commandments.
Jesus Christ, fasted when He was tempted by Satan.
Elijah the prophet, fasted when he escaped from Isabel.
